Cemetery Trustees’ meeting

 September 2, 2024

On September 2, 2024 @ 9:00 a.m. the Cemetery Trustees, Ruth Hammen, Fred Shaw and Brenda Boswak met at the Historical Society building.

OLD BUSINESS

Don Cotnoir, NH Monuments, has finished the repair work at Hook Cemetery. He has drilled, pinned, epoxied and releveled eight, broken, Yankee style, granite posts. Don removed and disposed of approximately 600 feet of damaged, old iron fencing and replaced with all new iron pipes around the entire perimeter of the cemetery, reattached and leveled the front gate and cleaned up brush and debris. His hard work and expert craftmanship has returned the cemetery to its near original condition.  The cemetery looks well-cared for once again. Next season we will plan on cleaning and repairing some gravestones, beginning with the military veterans’ gravestones, as funds allow. Brenda submitted Don’s invoices for work at Hook Cemetery. Tim Mayville has cleaned up the fallen limb in Brown Cemetery.

Garry Kalajian, Ararat Forge, has begun creating the new iron gate for Morrill Cemetery. Brenda submitted Garry’s invoice for the balance due on Brown Cemetery gate and a deposit for work on Morrill Cemetery gate.

Joseph Beachy, Extol Tree Care, is scheduled for September 12 & 13, 2024 to remove the large dead Ash tree in the Burying Yard.

There was a good amount of interest at Old Home Day, on August 17, 2024, in the photo display Brenda created, of some of the projects the Cemetery Trustees’ have accomplished.

NEW BUSINESS

Ruthie has assisted family members with two interments at Leavitt Cemetery (Rowell and Pray) and one interment at Pineground Cemetery (Dykstra)

A new ‘Right to Inter’ contract was sold at Pineground Cemetery to Alice Hilliard. She continues to regularly answer phone inquiries about available space in the town cemeteries, precise location of lots for family members as well as funeral homes and monument suppliers.

Fred has updated our  document with instructions for how to sell ‘Right to Inter’ contracts. He has also updated our Cornerstone Installation payment receipt document. He is continually uploading our documents to google drive for safe keeping, in addition to our hard copy records.

We reviewed our 2024 cemetery expenses budget so far this year.

he meeting was adjourned at 12:15 p.m.

 Respectfully submitted,

Brenda Boswak, Cemetery Trustee, Secretary
