About image
There are twenty-one cemeteries located within the town's boundaries. Some are private lots with a very small number of interments and some are known only to a few relatives or to grave decorating veterans. Following settlement, some were buried on their own land or that of their neighbors, or, in some cases, several families would unite a small piece of ground for a common cemetery. No other sites were available because of non-existent church yard or burying lots. It wasn't until the 1800's that burying grounds were set aside by the settlers.
