The Cemetery Trustees Ruth Hammen, Fred Shaw and Brenda Boswak met at 9:00 a.m. at the Historical Society building.

OLD BUSINESS

Garry Kalajian, Ararat Forge, met with us to share his design proposal for iron gates at Knowlton-Edgerly Cemetery. He brought a design sample for us to view and discuss. The proposal is for two three-foot, custom designed, black iron gates to be created and installed on the West side of the cemetery (Horse Corner Road entrance). The approximate cost will be $6,100 for the project. Garry will email an updated design sketch and estimate for us to review.

Brenda attended the February 4, 2025, public Budget Committee meeting. The cemetery tree removal line in the proposed 2025 budget was entered a$1,000.  At the January 21, 2025, Budget Committee meeting/Selectmen meeting, the Cemetery Trustees and the boards agreed to $2,600 for the cemetery tree removal line. We will spend $5,000 from the Cemetery Capital Reserve Fund for the tree removal project in 2025. February 7, 2025, we notified Selectmen Mike Williams of the error. The town report was available today and we confirmed that this correction was made.

There has been no update from the Selectmen on the situation with Scott Tepper regarding the tree debris in the Buring Yard cemetery. Brenda emailed the Town Administrator to inquire. She has put it on the Selectmen’s agenda for their March 4, 2025, meeting. Brenda plans to attend that meeting.

NEW BUSINESS

Ruthie and Brenda plan to attend the NH Cemetery Association seminar on April 8, 2025.

We discussed verifying the boundaries of Page Cemetery in preparation for installing a fence around the burial area. We discussed inviting David Colbert, abutter to the cemetery, to our April meeting to discuss a proposed definite boundary and possible lot line adjustment for David’s property deed. We need to confirm if David’s deed has described the cemetery. Fred will research the information that we do have on the cemetery boundaries. We also discussed confirming the boundaries of Fellows-Webster Cemetery. Brenda will contact Don CotnoirNH Monumentsfor information on granite posts and black chain fencing for these cemeteries.

The Remembrance Wreaths will need to be removed from the cemeteries as soon as the snow melts.

Ruthie and Brenda will inspect the American flags we have for placement at Memorial Day time and purchase as needed.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:30.

Respectfully submitted,

Brenda Boswak, Cemetery Trustee, Secretary
