Cemetery Trustees’ meeting J

uly 1,2024

Only July 1, 2024, Ruthie Hammen, Fred Shaw and Brenda Boswak met at 10:30 a.m. at the Historical Society building for their monthly meeting.

OLD BUSINESS

Riel Fence Co. has repaired the rolled back portion of the chain link fence on the field side of Leavitt Cemetery, so it is neat, safe and secure.

Don Cotnoir, NH Monuments, has completed the restoration of seven large, white marble gravestones at Perkins-Maxfield Cemetery. He has done excellent work, once again. Ruthie will submit the request for payment of his invoice for the work at Perkins-Maxfield Cemetery and the cornerstone order invoice for ‘Lavoie’ to the Town Administrator. Don will begin restoration of the Hook Cemetery granite posts and iron railings. Don began the restoration work of the Page Cemetery gravestones, but discovered there was more damage to the stones than he had estimated, due to several of the pieces being buried. We have decided to hold off on those restorations currently, due to the estimated cost.

Brenda took photos of the broken latch on the Batchelder Cemetery gate and sent them to Garry Kalajian, blacksmith, and he agreed to look at the hinge and estimate the time and cost to repair, possibly coinciding with one of his trips to Chichester.  Garry met with us today to explain the additional cost for the installation of the Brown Cemetery gate. Garry is finishing the creation of the Brown Cemetery gate and preparing for installation at the end of July.

Fred received a prompt, courteous email response from the owners of the dogs that were loose in Pineground Cemetery. They have addressed the issue.

Fred is still working out the details of the removal of the dead Ash tree in the Burying Yard with Joseph Beachy, Extol Tree Care and the abutting property owner, Scott Tepper.

NEW BUSINESS

Fred has created a form for use when a check is received by us, from a purchaser of gravestones, to be submitted to the Town Administrator. This form will;  step #1, request her  signature and date she receives the check from us and  step #2, request her signature and  date that she receives the invoice, for payment for the cornerstones. The meeting was adjourned at 12:40 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Brenda Boswak, Cemetery Trustee, Secretary
